Welcome to the August 13th edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.
Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.
In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on August 12th games. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings
- Bo Bichette is hungry. Combo Meal? Pfff, make it a 5-for-5 Animal-Style meal! (one HR, two SB)
- Juan Soto checks his record book. Hmm, ok, time for new one. 466 feet + 403 feet = THUNDAH!
- Tim Anderson rejoices in his return (1B, 3B, HR). You don’t like seeing it on your bench, but at least he’s on YOUR bench.
- "Yordan Alvarez is very close.” What does that mean? I’m excited but even my old knees are barking.
- Tyler Mahle provides a Salvador Perez homer in defiance of being a “follower.” (3.1 IP, 3 ER, 6 K)
- Zack Greinke will tell you the signs so your people can relay it to the hitter. You still can’t do anything about it. 6.1 IP, 1 ER, 7 K.
- And out of the shadows came a sultry voice “Hello. Is it me you’re looking for?” Yes, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. We were looking for your first HR.
- Eloy Jimenez loves the long ball. #5 for your viewing pleasure.
- Oh MY?! Did Blake Snell get a W? (5 IP, zero ER, ZERO BB, 6 K) YOWZA! “Celebrate, good times. Come on!"
- Playing time. Look for playing time at the end of your drafts. Yet, Jonathan Schoop continued to be a late-round pick. Fourth HR and we appreciate you.
- “Sir, that’s two homers to start the game, should we be concerned?” No, let it play. “Another in the third, sir” Yes, perfect. “Respectfully, the fifth isn’t looking good.” It’s ok, Matthew Boyd is giving the people exactly what they need. (4.2 IP, 7 ER)
- Garrett Hampson w/ four hits. Zero SB. He didn’t have any klepto feelings today.
- People, gather round. We need to send out a search party looking for all leagues that David Peralta (55%) is not owned. We need to locate them as quickly as possible.
- Not satisfied w/ a quarter pounder, Nolan Arenado orders Le Big Mac w/ two big patties. (six HR)
- D’backs lineup is heating up. (Please avoid looking at Eduardo Escobar 1 HR, 171 AVG)
- Charlie Blackmon takes the day to act normal w/ 0-for-4. He still leads the majors in AVG (.472) and RBI (20). Second in R (18).
- Nick Ahmed continues to take advantage of the circumstance. Three-hit night w/ five R + RBI. 6% owned. Don’t go rushing out to add now; he’s leaving Coors.
- “What can I get you today?” ~ Carls Jr. employee asked. Robbie Grossman confidently replied “A Super Star, and make it a Combo Meal!” 3 HR/4 SB, .311 AVG. 4% owned. Four percent?!
- Matt Olson crushes his sixth homer that blinds you from his .149 AVG and makes you smile.
- Mike Trout (eight) & Anthony Rendon (four). They laugh together, they cry together, and they HR together.
- Kris Bryant w/ two HR, 13 R + RBI. Let’s warm it up or you might be on the Steer Clear list for 2021.
- I know, you want power every day. Jesus Aguilar is getting regular at-bats. .311 AVG, 6 K, 4 BB. 19% owned.
- Because Brian Anderson is a Marlin, that’s why? Because his last two HR were in Buffalo? Because he struck out 4 times? I’m just saying he’s not a bad option in deeper leagues. 30% owned.
- Thank you Monssier Jon Berti for your SB contribution. When can we expect the next donation? Yes, we freeloaders are a greedy bunch.
- Nate Pearson! Get up. Get back up on that horse.
- Danny Jansen revalidates (second HR) that 2020 will not be 2019. We hope not.
- We need more of Sal Perez at DH & 1B. He needs to be in the lineup every day of the season. 22 R+RBI, .321 AVG
- You turn your nose up at three games w/ HR? Jesse Winker (12% owned).
- Dansby Swanson always in the action. 29 R+RBI.
- Renato Nunez (four) says there is power to be had late.
- Ginger time. Well, at least for a day, Clint Frazier showed himself to be Austin Meadows equal.
- Brandon Nimmo (third HR) is more than just his .438 OBP.
- C-MASH (three) continues his assault on Rawlings. Pete Alonso, where's the next On First episode?
- Why settle for one when two will do? Byron Buxton (five HR) continues his #1 prospect impersonation.
- J.D. Martinez (two) wastes no time for his encore. He orders a Grand Slam w/ a side of crispy Siegers.
- We expect Austin Meadows to provide souvenirs. Look at the people jumping on the Brandon Lowe bandwagon. 4 HR, .302 AVG.
- You need SB. Dylan Moore better not be on your waivers (four).
- Endgame
- Trevor Rosenthal (four). I hope you weren’t watching it. Three BB.
- Hansel Robles w/ four straight scoreless outings. (3.1 IP, 3 H, 1 BB, 7 K). The Undertaker has returned.
- Archie Bradley w/ an inning of work.
- Rafael Montero (four). YES! We needed some reliability in our lives.
- Cole Sulser (four)
- Zach Britton (seven). Oh where, oh where can my Aroldis Chapman be?
- Josh A. Smith (one)
- Man-Bun power. Josh Staumont w/three K.
- *2021 Closer draft tip: If you want to draft closers early, do it, but grab ’The Right One.’ If you want to wait and grab the last two or three available, do it, but grab the Right Ones.
- Right One definition: The one who holds the role, performs well, and doesn’t get injured. Simple, right?
- The week rolls on. You wake up & get the day started. Stop & enjoy something funny at some point to give yourself another break from reality & actually laugh a bit. Laughter is a great healer. Hopefully this provides some respite. Have a great Thursday.
