As always we have a busy Saturday, with all 30 teams taking to the field. With playoff implications in full swing, it will be an intriguing day but for DFS purposes all our attention will be on the 11 game evening slate.
Houston and Justin Verlander are by far the biggest favorites on this slate, but Oakland and the Dodgers are also big favorites today. Today could be a mixed day for offenses, with just two games having a projected total in double-digits, but equally, there is just one game with a total projected below nine.
In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on 9/7/19. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. Be sure to also check out all the Vegas Odds for today's slate. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for sites like FanDuel, and other sports too. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @benrolfe15.
DraftKings DFS Starting Pitchers
Chris Bassitt, OAK (vs. DET) - $9,800
Bassitt is backing up his impressive 2018 with a solid 2019. Most importantly for DFS purposes, he has increased his strikeout rate to 21.5%. He has been especially impressive at home this season with a 3.22 ERA, and now he gets to face one of the worst offenses in the majors in the Tigers. This feels like an option that offers the benefit of both safety and upside.
Julio Teheran, ATL (vs. WSH) - $9,000
Despite bouncing back in a big way this year Teheran continues to get disrespect on these DFS slates. He has a 3.38 ERA on the season and an impressive 21.6% strikeout rate. He has been especially good at home with a 3.00 and 74 strikeouts in 75 innings. This start comes with some risk, as the Nationals can be a dangerous offense, but his talent means there is enough upside to make the risk worthwhile.
DraftKings DFS Infielders
C - James McCann, CWS (vs. LAA) - $3,600
McCann is having a solid 2019, with 16 home runs on the season. Only four of those home runs have come against left-handed pitching, but he has a .294 batting average, .202 ISO and a .365 wOBA with lefties on the mound.
1B - Yonder Alonso, COL (@ SD) - $3,000
It has not been a vintage year for Alonso, but he has been better since the All-Star break with a .283 batting average, .250 ISO and a .381 wOBA. Additionally, he has also been better against left-handed pitchers this season, with a .242 batting average, .258 ISO and a .346 wOBA.
2B - Jose Altuve, HOU (vs. SEA) - $5,100
It has been really impressive by Altuve since the All-Star break, with 15 home runs, a .297 ISO and a .420 wOBA. He best performances all season have come against lefties, who he has hit .392 against, with a .381 ISO and a .489 wOBA.
3B - Kris Bryant, CHC (@ MIL) - $4,600
Bryant is yet another hitter here with great splits against left-handed pitchers. This season against lefties he has hit .313 with nine home runs, a .354 ISO and a .450 wOBA.
SS - Amed Rosario, NYM (vs. PHI) - $4,100
Sticking with the theme of targetting left-handed pitchers Amed Rosario gives us the chance to target Drew Smyly. Rosario has hit five of his 12 home runs off lefties this year, while also hitting .322 with a .383 wOBA and a .223 ISO.
DraftKings DFS Outfielders
Trey Mancini, BAL (vs. TEX) - $4,600
Finally, we will target a right-handed pitcher on this slate. Mancini is perhaps my favorite DFS player because he is generally not a bank breaker and you can use him in any situation. He is good against both handed pitchers and both at home and on the road. His numbers against righties included a .283 batting average, .231 ISO and a .359 wOBA.
Ian Desmond, COL (@ SD) - $3,900
Back to targetting the left-handed pitchers here with Desmond, who has 11 of his 16 home runs this season off of lefties. Additionally, he hitting over .300 with a .314 ISO and a .397 wOBA against lefties this season.
Jose Martinez, STL (@ PIT) - $3,500
Why not stick with targetting lefties? Martinez is another hitter with superior numbers against lefties on this slate. five of his 10 home runs have come against left-handed pitchers, with a .338 batting average, .292 ISO and a .429 wOBA.
