BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 8% of Yahoo! leagues
ANALYSIS: Brewers first baseman/outfielder Eric Thames has quietly hit the stuffing out of the ball this season, boasting a ridiculous 91.7 mile per hour average exit velocity along with a 45.5% hard hit rate. Tack on his 16.3% walk rate, one of the top marks in the league, and you have a guy with a .253/.388/481 slash line - despite his ghastly 35.8% strikeout rate.
So yeah, the strikeouts are still a big concern here as is the playing time, since Thames only starts about half the games thanks to a crowded outfield picture and Jesus Aguilar occupying first base.
Still, Thames has a lot of oomph in his bat, and in deeper OBP formats - particularly ones that allow daily lineup changes - he is a very rosterable player.
For now, he's limited to deeper (14+) team leagues, but an injury could thrust him into regular playing time, which would make him a consideration in 12+ team OBP formats.
