BALLER MOVE: Add In 12-14 Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 25% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Monte Morris has been thrust into a big role for the Nuggets as the team is dealing with injuries to Will Barton and Isaiah Thomas. Morris will be utilized in his role for at least a few more weeks as the aforementioned guards recover from their respective injuries.
Morris is now in his second year with the Nuggets and has gotten off to a strong start to the 2018-19 campaign thanks to his increase in playing time. He's played over 20 minutes in each of his last three games, during which he's averaged 13.3 points, 6.0 assists and 4.o rebounds. He's shooting 45.1% over the past three games as well, knocking down 4-of-7 three-point attempts. He provided his first career 20-point game against the Lakers last week and he will be looking to build off of that performance. Defensively, Morris has averaged 1.0 steals per game this year, including three steals against the Lakers and he's made 8-of-10 free-throw attempts on the season.
While Morris' role won't be sustainable, he is talented and worth a short-term look in 12 team leagues. Until Barton and Thomas return to action, Morris will have his grasp on the backup point guard role and should see more than 20 minutes per night. Should he continue to perform, perhaps Mike Malone will have to seriously consider keeping him in the rotation when the Nuggets are healthy again. For now, he should be owned in 12+ team leagues, although his value will take a big hit when Barton and Thomas are back in action.
