ANALYSIS: San Diego Padres starting pitcher Joey Lucchesi has allowed two earned runs, or less, in four of the past five games. He has also punched out at least six batters in five consecutive appearances. With two starts on the docket this week, there are a lot of reasons to pick him up in deeper leagues.
Lucchesi will face the Diamondbacks in his first outing of the week. Arizona is sixth in team strikeouts (1,212) this season. However, both the DBacks and Reds are in the top six in team wOBA against left-handed pitching this year. Both of these starts also happen to be on the road, where Lucchesi will not get to take advantage of Petco Park. Still, these are decent enough matchups for a pitcher that will pack on the strikeouts.
