FanDuel, DraftKings NHL DFS Lineup Picks (1/20/18): Daily Fantasy Hockey Advice

Tom Vecchio's top NHL DFS lineup picks on FanDuel, DraftKings for 1/20/18. Expert daily fantasy hockey advice, sleepers & player recommendations.

We have a 9 game slate tonight, and there are good options on the board. Stacking will be big tonight, so look for some value where you can, and then load up on the star skaters where you can afford them.

Vegas lines are big when it comes to picking games to target, and that's a good place to start for goalies. When it comes to skaters, goal totals is another main place to start. Usually 5.5 goals is average, so targets games at six, and can look for goalies in games with a total at five.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 1/20/18. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @DFS_Tom. Let's get to it, shall we?

DFS Forwards to Consider

Connor McDavid - C, EDM vs VAN (DK - $7,600, FD - $9,000)

McDavid is on the top forward line and the first power-play unit for the Oilers, so he is set to see a ton of minutes. He is up against the Canucks, who are giving up over three goals per game. Anytime they are on the slate, you want to stack against them, since the potential for goals is certainly there. McDavid makes a great cash game option tonight if you can get up to his price since he is so expensive. He is taking over three shots per game, and has 52 points in 46 games this season.

Brad Marchand - W, BOS @ MON (DK - $7,500, FD - $8,000)

The Bruins are hot right now, and they are scoring a ton of goals on their top two lines. This is a great spot for Marchand, not only since it's a rivalry game, but they played the other night and Marchand played well. In that game, he had one goal and one assist, along with three shots. He seems to have their number, and should be good for any format tonight. If you are going to stack him up, use the first power-play unit, as they have a high multi-goal potential against a weak Montreal team.

DFS Defenders to Consider

Mikhail Sergachev - D, TB @ MIN (DK - $5,200, FD - $4,500)

Sergachev has been moved up to the first power-play since Tampa top defensemen, Victor Hedman, is out with an injury. Sergachev's price hasn't risen too much, so we want to jump on it before it gets any higher. He hasn't scored a point in four games, so he is a bit of a riskier option, but now that he is on the same power-play as Stamkos and Kucherov, he has a higher point potential. He takes about two shots per game, and is blocking about one shot per game.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson - D, ARI @ STL (DK - $4,500, FD - $5,100)

Ekman-Larsson has three points in his last three games, and is going to be seeing a ton of ice time tonight, since he is up against the Blues top line. He always plays well over 20 minutes per game, so not an issue with ice time. He is taking over two shots per game, along with blocking one shot per game. Don't hate him as a one off in GPPs, since he is on the power-play, the upside is there for him.

DFS Goalies to Consider

Pekka Rinne - G, NSH vs FLA (DK - $8,200, FD - $8,500)

Rinne is coming off a nice win, and will likely be in net tonight against Florida, who is on the second night of a back to back. He has 22 wins in 33 starts this season, and generally sees about 30 shots per game, which is plenty to rack up some points. Rinne has three straight wins, and even though he is a bit expensive, he is likely to come away with the win, as the Panthers are giving up over three goals per game, so the offense should be able to help him with the win.
