Daily Fantasy Hockey Lineup Picks (1/6/18): NHL DFS Advice for FanDuel, DraftKings

We have a 7 game slate tonight , and there are fantastic options all across the board. Stacking will be big tonight, so look for some value where you can, and then load up on the star skaters.

Vegas lines are big when it comes to picking games to target, and that's a good place to start for goalies. When it comes to skaters, goal totals is another main place to start. Usually 5.5 goals is average, so targets games at six, and can look for goalies in games with a total at five.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 1/6/18. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @DFS_Tom. Let's get to it, shall we?

DFS Forwards to Consider

Mika Zibanejad - C, NYR @ ARI (DK - $7,000, FD - $6,200)

Zibanejad is on the first forward line and the first power-play putting him in a good spot to score, as he is up against the Coyotes, who are giving up over three goals per game. Anytime Arizona is on the slate, you should try and stack against them, since they are weak on defense. The Rangers lost Chris Kreider to an injury, Zibanejad will need to step up and provide more offense. He is taking just under three shots per game, which we could see increase without Kreider on the ice. Really like this spot for him tonight, and should be good for either format.

Brad Marchand - W, BOS vs CAR (DK - $7,300, FD - $7,500)

The Bruins had their last game cancelled due to the snow in the Northeast, and are now on full rest against one of the weaker defensive teams in the league. The Hurricanes are giving up just under three goals per game, so you should be willing to stack against them really any night. Marchand is on the top forward line and the top power-play unit. He has 34 points in 30 games this season, while taking a bit over two shots per game. Love the Bruins top line stack tonight.

DFS Defenders to Consider

Victor Hedman - D, TB @ OTT (DK - $6,900, FD - $6,600)

Hedman is one of the most expensive defenders on the slate, and is up against the Senators who are one of the weakest teams in the league, as they have given up the seventh most goals this season. Hedman is on the top defensive pairing for the Lightning, and more importantly, he is on the top power-play unit, with the best offensive line in the league. He can easily fall into some DFS points for simply sharing ice time with Stamkos and Kucherov. You can also roster him solo in cash games, and be locked in for a great floor of point, since he takes plenty of shots and blocks shots as well.

Jake  Muzzin - D, LA vs NSH (DK - $4,400, FD - $4,500)

Muzzin makes more of a GPP play tonight, and has potential for upside, as west coast games generally carry lower ownership. He is on the first defensive pairing and the second power-play unit, and plays over 20 minutes a game. He has assists in three of his last four games, along with taking over two shots per game. Muzzin also blocks two shots per game, so he has the ability to fill the stat sheet, which is never a bad thing.

DFS Goalies to Consider

Frederik Andersen - G, TOR vs VAN (DK - $8,200, FD - $8,400)

Andersen is a -200 favorite at home, which is massive in the NHL, meaning he is looking to be a lock to pick up the win. This is the kind of guy you want to roster in cash games, since the extra points for the win will likely be there. He does usually let in a few goals most games, so the shutout won't be there, but still a good pick. He has 21 wins in 34 games this season, and has three wins in his last five starts. The offense around him should be able to put up plenty of goals making the win even easier.
