Fantasy College Football CFB Rankings: NCAA Top 10 (10/23/17)

It's not even November, and Army has already accepted a bowl bid.

And perennial Ivy-League doormat Columbia is 6-0. Oh, and while we're handing out praise, Rutgers--Rutgers!--has won two Big Ten games in a row.

Okay, enough about FBS also-rans. Let's get into the nitty-gritty of the division.

Here's our Top 10 as of October 23, 2017 (with won-loss records in parentheses).

NCAA College Football (CFB) Rankings

1. Alabama, (8-0)

Remember when Alabama-Tennessee was the biggest rivalry in the SEC? It's a wonder that anyone in Knoxville remembers, these days. For the Tide, receiver Calvin Ridley has had an ordinary season, but his 8 catches for 82 yards against the Vols on Saturday amount to his best game of the year to date.

2. Penn State, (7-0)

We've had the Nittany Lions in this spot for a few weeks now, and they made us look like geniuses against Michigan on Saturday night. Speaking of geniuses, whoever recruited RB Saquon Barkley away from Rutgers--Rutgers!--looks like one. Against the Maize and Blue, he had 15 carries for 108 yards (with 2 TDs) on the ground and 3 catches for 53 yards and 1 TD as a receiver.

3. Georgia, (7-0)

Before we get too full of ourselves, we need to remember that we also under-rated the Bulldogs, who were idle this week.

4. TCU, (7-0)

True, Kansas' rebuilding project in football started back when Tennessee could still compete with Alabama. But the day TCU's Kenny Hill had against the Jayhawks (19-26, 278 yards, 5 TDs) is hard to do against anyone in the FBS, much less a Big 12 rival.

5. Wisconsin, (7-0)

The Badgers keep winning, and RB Jonathan Taylor (22 carries, 126 yards, 1 TD) keeps carrying the mail. It looks as though it will be Wisconsin against Penn State in Indy for the Big 10 title.

6. Oklahoma, (6-1)

We keep waiting to write off QB Baker Mayfield and the Sooners, but it looks as though they are taking motivation from their loss a few weeks ago against Iowa State. They've been down late the last two weeks as well, but Mayfield (32-41, 410 yards, 2 TDs) has led them back. A good sign for a championship team or a sign of a chink in the armor?

7. Ohio State, (6-1)

The Buckeyes were off this week, which until recently meant they played Rutgers--Rutgers! But Rutgers isn't Rutgers anymore. The Scarlet Knights were smart enough to hire an Urban Meyer protege. And not Butch Jones (sorry Tennessee).

8. Clemson, (6-1)

The Tigers got another week to lick their wounds after their loss to Syracuse, but it will be interesting to see if they can right the ship this week against Georgia Tech.

9. Miami, (6-0)

Miami... wait, Miami?! Where the...? Well, don't look now but the Canes are undefeated, and junior Malik Rosier (344 passing yards against--you guessed it--Syracuse) has kept them that way.

10. Notre Dame, (6-1)

We're a little reluctant to buy what the Irish are selling, but their only loss this season is to our No. 3 team--Georgia--by 1 point. And RB Josh Adams had 191 rushing yards, and 3 TDs, against USC on Saturday. If the Irish continue winning, the committee will do whatever it can to get them into the playoff. Mark it down.
