ANALYSIS: Ryan Zimmerman had been written off by most fantasy owners after hitting .249 in 2015 and down to .218 in 2016. Throw in the 215 games missed in the last three years and his fantasy value was practically nil entering this season. He has turned that around in a hurry through just one week. Zimmerman was already hitting .300 with a pair of homers in the first week before stepping in and hitting a pinch-hit, three-run homer in the ninth inning against Jeanmar Gomez in his day off. He now has six RBI in six games and is looking like a must-add in all but shallow leagues.
His spot in the Nationals' potent lineup, hitting behind Bryce Harper and Daniel Murphy, is about as good as it can get for RBI potential. Adam Lind has done a nice job pinch-hitting and could see occasional time against right-handers like he did on Sunday, but Zimmerman should start at least four or five times a week if he remains healthy. That's still a big IF with Zimmerman, but so far so good. Give him a chance in your CI spot as long as he's hot.
