ANALYSIS: At 30 years old and with just five career MLB saves, Adam Ottavino is far from being a household name out of the Rockies bullpen. Here is a little figure that will probably blow you away; since 2015, he has pitched 26.1 innings for the Rockies (16 IP this year). In that time Ottavino has an ERA of 0.00, WHIP of 0.68, 1.71 BB/9, 10.3 K/9, and has allowed zero HR. It is pretty impressive to not allow a home run when you play home games in Coors Field. Yet in the last two seasons he has just four saves with just one coming in 2016. Not only that, but he has just seven holds in the past two seasons despite his quiet dominance. Though it had looked like young Carlos Estevez had cemented a 9th inning niche, he has a 11.25 ERA and 1.88 WHIP in his last 8.0 IP, and the Rockies have the third worst bullpen ERA in MLB at 4.86. If they have any desire to see the best quality performances in the closer's spot moving forward, they will hand the job to Adam Ottavino who has demonstrated great K volume, solid command, and the ability to greatly stifle power in one of baseball's top HR park. Oh, and the part about not allowing an earned run in the last two seasons is pretty interesting too.
