This season continues to be a grim one for those who need good catchers on their team. Sure, Buster Posey just had a good series against the Brewers and is showing signs of actually being Buster Posey, but it literally took until the middle of June for any catcher to break double digits in home runs. Mike Piazza used to have that in a DAY. OK, I'm exaggerating. Slightly. The distance between the top 12 in ownership and the rest is shown in a perilous drop-off in ownership percentage. There's less of a fall in a bottomless pit. Yes, I'm stretching things a bit there, but it's bad.
If this were a baseball movie, right about now would be when the curmudgeon would suddenly bellow, "STOP THIS PITY-FEST. WE'RE IN THE ELEVENTH WEEK OF THE SEASON! YOU HAVE TO MAKE DO WITH WHAT YOU HAVE!" and then stomp off. He may be grumpy, but he's right. We just need to do a little digging around. Problem is, we might hit the center of the Earth. The cut-off is sub- 70% ownership in Fleaflicker.

Week 11 Waiver Wire Catchers
J.T. Realmuto (MIA) 69% - I still find it unfathomable that there is still a little under 1/3 of Fleaflicker players who don't have him on their team. He's hitting .299 with three stolen bases. Including Wednesday's action, he had a hit in eight of his last 10 games. He even homered for the first time in over a month on June 11. What are you waiting for? Mike Piazza isn't coming back to play. Grab him.
Yan Gomes (CLE) 48% - Gomes represents the drop-off from higher-percentage ownership to lower. Some might be amazed that a player who has a .170 batting average is even owned by close to half of a league. When that catcher is tied for fourth among all catchers in RBIs, it's not quite as puzzling. He hasn't driven in a run since June 2, but he'll do more damage soon.
Derek Norris (SDP) 41% -This is the second week that I'm touting the best beard among catchers. Jayson Werth and Dallas Keuchel may get all the glory, but the Padres backstop holds his own. Norris continues to be hot at the plate, hitting in seven of his last 10 games. This has resulted in his having a batting average that is higher than his weight for the first time this season. Take advantage of this.
Chris Herrmann (ARI) 25% - Herrmann has strung together a very good season so far. He did find himself sitting for five games in June, but his average remains a strong .282. The backstop remains a very strong option for a two-catcher leagues even though he has only gotten a hit in three of his last 10 games. He'll rebound.
Jason Castro (HOU) 11% - Castro is another one with a very low batting average, but that seems to be largely the norm for catchers this season. He's still in the middle of the pack when it comes to homers and RBIs. While he's struggled in June after a fairly decent May, chances are good he'll get things going again. There are far worse choices for a second catcher.
Cameron Rupp (PHI) 7% - It's not exactly the highest praise that Rupp is owned by more players than Carlos Ruiz. The Phillies haven't been that good at all this season and neither of them have been tearing it up. Rupp is hitting .262, though, which is not terrible either. He's found himself starting a lot more in June after sitting a lot more in April and May. One reason is that he hit two of his four homers this month and has had three multi-hit games. Take a flyer on him as a No. 2 catcher.
