ANALYSIS: Carlos Beltran has made huge waves for the Yankees this season and is on pace for his first 30 HR season since 2012 while with the St. Louis Cardinals. His SLG%, ISO and K% are all up from last year while his BABIP OBP and OPS are all trending down from last year. This would suggest a very poor BA (.268) while having a less than stellar wRC+ (119). But Beltran has been bucking trends for the better part of a decade and is making his twilight years in the Bronx count.
It has helped Beltran even more that the future RF Aaron Judge has struggled to kick the strikeout bug himself in the minors. But make no mistake, Beltran is a legit threat in Yankee Stadium to crank out 30 HR and collect 80 RBI before all is said and done. Short term gold but in the long term injury concern is still a big deal for Beltran.
