BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Leagues
OWNED IN: 2% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: After spending four years in the minor leagues with the Tampa Bay Rays hitting .280 with a .390 OBP and a .790 OPS, Joey Rickard is now bouncing back and forth between hitting 9th and 1st for Baltimore. Rickard has never been much of a power hitter but did have five double digit SB seasons in the minors with 30 coming in 2013 with Single-A Bowling Green.
If Rickard can get his BB% up towards 15% and his K% down to 15% the Orioles might have found themselves a real steal. If he continues to hit at the top or bottom of the order the SB and R could come in bunches with Baltimore's powerful lineup. Still, expectations should be tempered for most fantasy owners looking for a jolt. In deeper leagues Rickard probably needs to be scooped up as he can be a nice fill in for owners who have OF on the DL such as Michael Brantley or Carl Crawford. If he starts to flounder owners should have no qualms about dropping him but if he flourishes you can rest assured that grabbing him now will pay off.
