Christian Yelich Looks to Build Off Strong 2015 Campaign

Miami Marlins outfielder Christian Yelich put together a solid 2015 despite a pair of mid-season DL stints. In 2015, Yelich finished with a .300 average and 143 hits in just 126 games after a lower back strain caused him to miss time in April and May, while a knee contusion kept him out of the lineup for two weeks in August. Yelich proved to be effective when he was in the lineup however, posting two months where he hit at least .300, including his monster September where he had a .340 average, a .500 slugging percentage and a .400 OBP.

At least one other team felt the need to make a move for him, according to a December report from CBS Sports. The Washington Nationals offered SP Gio Gonzalez in return for Yelich, the report said, but the Marlins quickly turned the offer down. And for good reason too. When healthy, Yelich is more than capable of batting .300 and is sure to build off the success he had in 2015.
