Week 10's matchup between the Chicago Bears and St. Louis Rams should be an offensive battle between Rams running back Todd Gurley and Bears wide receiver Alshon Jeffery. The two offensive weapons are not only the best players on their respective teams, but they are two of the top players in the league.
Todd Gurley came into this year with a lot of question marks, mostly regarding his health and the hype surrounding him. Since Gurley has returned to football and embarked on his rookie season, he has proven himself and removed all doubts. If you were fortunate enough to snag Gurley in your fantasy draft, he's paying you back ten-fold. Gurley already has 664 yards rushing and four rushing touchdowns in just five games. He's been a spark for the St. Louis Rams offense, and a huge spark to fantasy teams around the nation. Even in his worst outing of the year against a stout Minnesota Vikings defense last week, Gurley still managed to rush for 89 yards and a touchdown. This week's matchup with the Bears should be a feast for Gurley. The Bears defense is giving up a generous 122 yards on the ground and they're allowing opposing offenses to score nearly 28 points per game.
Alshon Jeffery more than likely had his fantasy owners frustrated earlier in the year. After catching five passes for 78 yards in the season opener against the Green Bay Packers, Jeffery missed the next four games due to injury. Owners, including myself, were starting to wonder if the injury would keep him sidelined for the rest of the year--then Week 6 happened. Against the Detroit Lions Jeffery returned and eased the minds of his owners with eight catches for 147 yards and a touchdown. Jeffery has been a monster ever since, catching for over 100 yards in three straight games. He does draw a tough matchup against a good St. Louis Rams defense that's only allowing 220 yards through the air, but Jeffery has been the Bears' most reliable weapon lately and that trend should continue against the Rams.
If you own Gurley and Jeffery in fantasy, they are must-starts this week. Gurley is basically a no-brainer play against a weak Bears defense. I'm predicting 150 yards rushing and two touchdowns for the electric rookie. Jeffery does have a tougher matchup today, but don't let the Rams defense scare you from playing one of the league's best wideouts. The Bears will have to lean on Jeffery if they want to stay competitive in this game. I'm predicting that Jeffery has nine catches for 115 yards and a touchdown.
