ANALYSIS: Ish Smith has bounced around nine different teams in his brief six-year career, but appears to have found a home in New Orleans. The Pelicans are low on guards, even with Jrue Holiday back on the court. Smith has impressed in an increased role so far this season, and should continue to capitalize on his minutes. Holiday does not appear to be 100%, and is always a candidate to re-injure himself.
Smith has posted two double-doubles in his last three games, and has totaled seven or more assists in seven of his nine games. Meanwhile, Holiday has only done so in one of his six games. So, even if Holiday is healthy and scoring, Smith seems to be the distributor in New Orleans. Anyone feeding the ball to Anthony Davis is in a good position to rack up assists. Additionally, Davis' presence down low opens up driving lanes and spots on the perimeter for everyone else.
