The Minnesota Vikings enter week seven with their second matchup this season against the Detroit Lions. The Vikings won 26-16 in week two, and their offense really got going. Minnesota Vikings Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater had one of his best fantasy games of the year against the Lions in week two, throwing for 153 yards, one touchdown and zero interceptions, while rushing for 21 yards and one touchdown.
Teddy Bridgewater will have a new weapon against the Lions that he didn't have in week two, and that's Rookie Wide Receiver Stefon Diggs. Diggs saw his first action of the year in week six against Denver, replacing the injured Charles Johnson. Diggs made the most of his playing time and looked impressive in his debut, catching six passes for 87 yards. Diggs also got the start in week seven and really had a breakout game, catching seven passes for 129 yards. While Diggs hasn't found the end zone yet, he certainly looks like the Vikings best wide receiver and Teddy Bridgewater's favorite target.
Enter week seven and Stefon Diggs is still the starter, getting the nod over Charles Johnson, who was declared active earlier in the week. Diggs might rotate in and out with Johnson and lose some snaps, but his value is the highest of the Vikings wideouts. He's fast and explosive and shouldn't have to worry about the opposing defense's best cornerback with Mike Wallace lined up next to him.
If you own Bridgewater and Diggs, play them this week against a Lions defense that has scored negative points in their last two outings. There are a lot of teams on bye this week, including Chicago, Cincinnati, Denver and Green Bay, and Bridgewater and Diggs are excellent fill in players. While I don't believe Teddy Bridgewater and Stefon Diggs are must starts week in and week out, they are viable options during a heavy a bye week and they have a nice matchup against a middle of the pack Detroit Lioins defense. Expect Bridgewater and Diggs to keep their chemistry going and have big days against the Detroit Lions, including their first touchdown connection of the season.
