Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant will reportedly test out his foot on Wednesday and Thursday. According to Fort Worth Star-Telegram writer Charean Williams, Jerry Jones has said that Bryant has a chance to play in Week 7 if he feels comfortable making cuts in practice this week.
Despite a great matchup against the New York Giants this week, Bryant would be a very risky fantasy football option. Even if he is cleared to play, he would likely be on a pitch count. Plus, quarterback Matt Cassel will be getting his first start with the team which makes every player on the Cowboys offense a risky fantasy option in Week 7.
After going with Brandon Weeden following the Tony Romo injury, the Cowboys are switching gears to try and boost their struggling offense. It's still to be seen if Cassel will be an upgrade for his wide receivers.
Overall, it sounds highly doubtful that Bryant will see the field in Week 7, but if he does I would recommend keeping him on your bench until he proves healthy. We really have no idea how long it will take for Dez to feel fully healthy, and play without any risk or fear of re-injuring himself.
This is an interesting situation to keep an eye on over the next few days, but realistically it may take another one or two weeks for Dez to make his long-awaited comeback for fantasy football owners. Until then, hang tight and stay tuned for further updates.
