Buehrle Pitches 2nd Straight CG, This Time A Shutout

Mark Buehrle pitched a complete game shutout against the Washington Nationals on Wednesday.

The veteran left-hander only needed 93 pitches to go through a first place team in nine innings. Buehrle, 36, actually pitched his second complete game in a row. This one was a shutout over Bryce Harper and the gang.

Both shutouts came on the road for the Toronto Jays starter. The Nats got six hits and a walk off of Buehrle. That was it. He struck out two and dominated with over 20 ground ball outs.

In his last start, he allowed four runs in the first, but went on to complete the game with no runs allowed after that. This time the Blue Jays scored four in the first and tacked on four more as the game went on.

Wednesday's victory lowered his ERA to 4.35 with a 1.31 WHIP and a 32/15 K/BB ratio over 72 1/3 innings.
