Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Sleepers for Week 16 & Playoffs

As playoffs continue, I'll be taking a look at some players who might still be flying under the radar in your leagues. I'm higher on some of these players than others, and some I just have a hunch on so I'm recommending them as waiver wire sleepers for Week 16. If you're dealing with an injury to your team or have some bench space available, consider these players as options to stash.  With that said, lets get to it!

Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Sleepers

Week 16 Sleepers (in priority order)

In case you didn't notice, Maurice Jones-Drew was inactive  last week.  In his place, Jordan Todman stepped in and had 109 yards rushing.  This was the first time all season that any Jaguars RB broke the 100-yards mark.  Now, speculation has begun that Jones-Drew might sit out Week 16, as well.  If this is the case, expect Todman to see the same workload again, around 25 carries.  Jacksonville will be playing the Titans, who have allowed the second-most points to opposing RBs.  If you are looking for a streamer, Todman could be your guy this week.

Ace Sanders, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars

In Week 15, Cecil Shorts was inactive against Buffalo, and he recently mentioned that he might not play the remainder of the season.  This bodes well for two WR options who might fill in for Shorts: Ace Sanders and Mike Brown.  Out of those two I'm leaning towards Sanders given his production: five catches for 46 yard per game over the last five weeks.  In Week 16, Jaguars WRs will be facing a tough secondary in the Titans (third in the league against WRs), but they have a better matchup in Week 17 versus the Colts.  Sanders is a strong WR option to consider  for Week 17.

Deeper sleepers (in priority order)

Kirk Cousins, QB, Washington Redskins

Last week, the Redskins head coach decided to bench RGIII for the rest of the season to help 'prevent' further injury.  In his place, Kirk Cousins stepped in and posted solid numbers:  381 yards in the air, three TDs and two picks. In Week 16, the Redskins face a horrible Cowboys defense that has fallen apart the last two weeks against the Packers and Bears.  If you're looking for a QB option to consider, Cousins could be in line for a huge game as the Cowboys have allowed the most points to opposing QBs on the season.

Andrew Quarless, TE, Green Bay Packers

In Week 15, Andrew Quarless had his first breakout game of the season for the Packers with 66 yards and a touchdown.  Quarless is currently filling in for the injured Jermichael Finley, and he will see two decent matchups in Week 16 (Pittsburgh) and 17 (Chicago), both of which rank in the middle of the road (13th and 11th). If you are seeking a desperation TE option, Quarless would be a solid guy for you to consider.

Previously Injured Sleepers

Randall Cobb, WR, Green Bay Packers

Cobb began practicing again this past week, and so far this week, he continues to get some 'strong' work in at practice.  While there are a lot of obstacles that Cobb has yet to clear, he is a dynamic offensive weapon on the Packers.  If you are looking for a player to take a flier on and see what happens, there are worse options that Cobb.

Owen Daniels, TE, Houston Texans

This is a big 'if,' but there is a possibility that Owen Daniels could be back for Week 17. Houston's offense loves TEs, and backup Garrett Graham is banged up and not looking like a solid play for Week 16, so Houston may have some motivation to look deeper into Daniels.  But again, there are a lot of obstacles that Daniels must surpass before he can play.  At minimum, though, he might be worth a flier for deeper leagues, and he would certainly be an option to utilize in Week 17 should  he return.
