Byron Buxton Hopes To Play In Rehab Games Soon
1 year agoMinnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (knee) has been hitting, throwing and running, and the goal is still to get him back in minor-league rehab games for Triple-A St. Paul. However, the Triple-A season ends this Sunday, so if that's going to happen, it needs to be soon. Buxton received a cortisone injection for his injured right knee earlier this month and continues to do baseball activities, but it remains to be seen if the oft-injured 29-year-old will be able to return to the Twins starting lineup before the end of the regular season. At this point, the Twins probably are just hoping to have him available for the playoffs. Buxton has only served as a designated hitter in the big leagues this year in 304 at-bats and has slashed just .207/.294/.438 with 17 homers, 42 RBI, nine stolen bases and 49 runs scored.
