Byron Buxton, Carlos Correa Remain Out Against Guardians
2 years agoMinnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (ribs) and shortstop Carlos Correa (foot) remain out of the lineup on Sunday against the Cleveland Guardians. Manager Rocco Baldelli said he's "optimistic" that Buxton and Correa will return to the lineup on Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Rays after their off day on Monday. Buxton will miss a third straight game after getting hit in the ribs by a pitch on Thursday, but he avoided any fractures and is day-to-day. Correa has been out in four of the last five games after aggravating his plantar fasciitis. With both players out again in the series finale, Royce Lewis is serving as the designated hitter and batting second, while Kyle Farmer is at shortstop and hitting sixth in the lineup against Guardians right-hander Triston McKenzie, who is making his 2023 debut.
