BALLER MOVE: Target Late in Keeper Leagues
ANALYSIS: At some point this season, Carlos Rodon will be a member of the Chicago White Sox. He features a low-to-mid 90’s fastball and a devastating, late-breaking slider. In three seasons at North Carolina State University, Rodon compiled a 25-10 record with a 2.24 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP. His 436 strikeouts are an NC State record. He also threw eight complete games and one shutout.
Rodon has been compared to White Sox ace Chris Sale, who was a force out of the bullpen before making the switch to starting pitcher in his third year. That approach worked well for Sale, and the White Sox could use a similar strategy with Rodon.
Rodon will likely being 2015 in the minors, but if Hector Noesi struggles or John Danks is traded, Rodon would be the first to receive a call. If he does become a starter at some point in the season, he will be worth owning in most fantasy leagues. Regardless, fantasy owners should keep an eye on the promising prospect, as he could be a staple in Chicago's starting rotation for many years to come.
