When Will MarShawn Lloyd Return and Be Back? Fantasy Football Injury Update for Week 8 (2024)

MarShawn Lloyd (ankle) became eligible to return to practice last week after spending the last four weeks on injured reserve with an ankle injury.

The team decided however that the running back was not ready to return yet. Head coach Matt LaFleur mentioned that the running back is "getting closer," and when asked about the possibility of Lloyd practicing this week, LaFleur responded with "we'll see."

So far this season, Lloyd has been limited to just 10 offensive snaps, recording six carries for 15 yards and one reception for three yards. Once fully healthy, he'll compete for reps behind Josh Jacobs in Green Bay’s backfield.

Fantasy managers will need to continue to monitor his practice status throughout the week.

When MarShawn Lloyd returns from his ankle injury, his fantasy football outlook will largely depend on his role within Green Bay's backfield.

With Josh Jacobs firmly entrenched as the Packers' lead running back, Lloyd will likely compete with Emanuel Wilson for backup snaps. While his volume may be limited, Lloyd could see opportunities in change-of-pace or short-yardage situations, giving him some value in deeper leagues or as a handcuff to Jacobs.

However, his fantasy ceiling will remain capped unless there's an injury ahead of him on the depth chart. Fantasy managers should monitor his health and usage closely, as he could emerge as a viable stash or flex play in favorable matchups later in the season.
