When Is Tua Tagovailoa Coming Back - Fantasy Football Injury Return Update for Week 7 (2024)

Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel announced on Monday that quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) is expected to return this season, though he won’t be available for the Week 7 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts.

Tagovailoa sustained a serious concussion in Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills and remains on Injured Reserve. While he's eligible to begin practicing on October 23, there's no guarantee he will return to action soon after.

After a career-best season last year, aided by one of the top wide receiver duos in the NFL, his future remains uncertain due to his concussion history. Tyler Huntley is expected to make his third consecutive start for Miami against the Colts in the meantime.

Fantasy managers should continue to monitor any injury updates that the Dolphins release.

Once Tagovailoa returns from IR, he will be a must-start in fantasy football, thanks to the dynamic offense he leads and the elite weapons at his disposal.

With Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle as his top receivers, Tagovailoa has arguably the best wide receiver duo in the NFL, offering him unmatched big-play potential on any given snap. Hill’s game-breaking speed and Waddle’s ability to create separation make it easy for Tagovailoa to rack up yards and touchdowns.

Before his injury, Tua was coming off a career-best season, and once he’s healthy, he should return to being a top fantasy QB with high weekly upside, especially in Miami’s pass-heavy offense.

Fantasy managers will just have to wait a couple more weeks until Tagovailoa returns to the field.
