Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco looked like an up-and-coming fantasy football option after he had run for 135 yards and one touchdown throughout the first two weeks of the season.

Unfortunately, the running back has missed the last eight games after suffering a gruesome ankle injury during the final moments of Week 2.

Isiah Pacheco Injury Update for Fantasy Football

Pacheco (ankle) is expected to be ready to return from injured reserve for the Chiefs' Week 12 game against the Panthers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Pacheco missed his eighth consecutive game this Sunday against Buffalo but made significant progress in his recovery from surgery on his right fibula by returning to practice this week in a limited capacity from Wednesday through Friday.

While the Chiefs have a 21-day window from last Tuesday, when his evaluation period began, to activate him to the 53-man roster, the 25-year-old appears on track to need just two weeks of practice before being game-ready.

Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his practice status throughout the week.

 

Isiah Pacheco Fantasy Football Outlook

Isiah Pacheco should be considered a must-start, high-end RB2 for fantasy football once he returns from his ankle injury.

The Chiefs' dynamic offense consistently creates scoring opportunities for its running backs, and Pacheco's physical running style makes him a perfect fit for their high-powered scheme. Before his injury, Pacheco was a key part of Kansas City's ground game, displaying excellent efficiency and the ability to churn out tough yards.

Pacheco is positioned to handle the bulk of the early-down and goal-line work upon his return with the Chiefs using Kareem Hunt as the secondary option.

His combination of volume, touchdown potential, and involvement in a top-tier offense makes him a reliable option for fantasy managers looking to solidify their RB2 spot.
