The Kansas City Chiefs and star quarterback Patrick Mahomes are again underdogs for the third straight game in the playoffs as they face the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII.
In the AFC Divisional and Championship rounds, we saw the Chiefs as underdogs in both contests, but the team conquered those odds and won both games. Yet, Mahomes is once again an underdog in the Super Bowl.
What should we expect? Will we see a different result? Will the Chiefs repeat as Super Bowl champs and pull off another betting upset as an underdog? Let's dive in.

What Is Patrick Mahomes' Record As An Underdog?
Since entering the NFL, Patrick Mahomes has statistically been the most dominant quarterback when he is considered the underdog. Including this year’s AFC title game against the Ravens and the Divisional game against the Bills, Mahomes is 10-1-1 against the spread as an underdog and 9-3 straight up when it came to winning the game outright. This means Mahomes has been nearly perfect in his career when the odds have been against him in just the seven years he has been a professional quarterback.
The Chiefs were road underdogs just twice in the Patrick Mahomes era, and both games happened this season when the Chiefs took down both the Bills and the Ravens in very hostile environments.
Currently, the line for Super Bowl LVIII is set at -2 in favor of San Francisco, with Kansas City being set at +102 money line underdogs, according to Draft Kings. This means Mahomes will again be viewed as an underdog in the year's biggest game.
Can The Chiefs Pull Off Another Upset?
If history continues to repeat itself, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs will have no problem being underdogs again for Super Bowl LVIII. The QB spoke to the media about his team once again being underdogs ahead of this week's game.
"I never feel like the underdog, I always feel like we have a chance to win the football game, and that's how we approach every game," Mahomes said. "We were underdogs in the last Super Bowl, so all you can do is have that same mindset."
This was found to be the case after the Chiefs won outright as two-point underdogs in Super Bowl 57 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Will Patrick Mahomes continue to prove the doubters wrong?
