Oakland Athletics closer Blake Treinen struck out four and gave up two hits in two innings on Saturday against the Angels. He recovered well from a Friday blown save to these same Angels to get his second save on the year. Treinen will continue to provide strikeouts with his nasty pitching arsenal.
Franklin Barreto Recalled To Utility Duty
Oakland Athletics shortstop prospect Franklin Barreto was recalled on Saturday due to injury to utility player Chad Pinder. Manager Bob Melvin stated Barreto will fill in when Lowrie or Semien need a day off, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle. Matt Olson Hits Second Homer Of Season
Oakland Athletics first baseman Matt Olson went 2-for-4 against the Angels on Friday with his second homer of the season. His start to the season isn't as quick as others, largely due to a 29.7% strikeout rate. But, Olson will provide the HRs and RBIs at the end of the season.
Matt Chapman Offensive Start Continues
Oakland Athletics third baseman Matt Chapman continues his unexpected start to the season with his third homer and fifth straight multi-hit game. Chapman finished 2-for-4 with a homer, two runs and two RBIs. If Chapman was a waiver wire addition and your roster doesn't need power, consider thoughts of trading him for increased value.
