T.J. Rivera Out Until July
New York Mets infielder T.J. Rivera (elbow) will be sidelined until at least July. Rivera said before spring training that he was hopeful to return by May. He had Tommy John surgery last September, so he still needs some more time to recover. He belongs on the waiver wire in all leagues.

Steven Matz Looks To Duplicate Excellent Outing
Using the words “Steven Matz” and “excellent outing” in the same sentence seems like a rarity these days, but the New York Mets pitcher has a chance string together two in a row for the first time in a long time on Friday night in Philadelphia. Against the Colorado Rockies last Saturday, Matz allowed only […]
Yoenis Cespedes Only Playing At 85%
New York Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes may be playing every day, but he’s not at 100% according to manager Mickey Callaway. Dealing with a sore right quad, Cespedes is only playing at 85, says the skipper. Although taking extra base and chasing down balls in the gap may be an issue for Yo, the Mets […]
Jason Vargas To Be Skipped This Turn Through Rotation
The New York Mets have had their fair share of starting pitching issues in 2018, the least of which not being Jason Vargas. After returning from injury on April 28, Vargas has gotten shelled in each of his starts, allowing earned run totals of nine, six, and four, respectively while not making it past the […]
Dominic Smith Officially Recalled
Earlier Friday, we told you the New York Mets were likely recalling first baseman Dominic Smith from Triple-A Las Vegas. The move is now official, and Smith should be available for the start of the Mets series in Philadelphia on Friday. Smith’s arrow has been trending down for some time, but it could easily point […]
Jay Bruce Placed On Paternity Leave
New York Mets outfielder/first baseman Jay Bruce has been placed on the paternity leave list. He’ll miss this weekend’s series in Philadelphia against the Phillies but should return early next week when the Toronto Blue Jays come to town. The Mets recalled first baseman Dominic Smith on Friday, but the biggest beneficiaries of Bruce’s absence […]
DraftKings Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (5/11/18): MLB DFS Lineups
We’re ignoring the interleague game in Chicago between the White Sox and Cubs, because of the 2:20pm (EST) start. Sorry, Chicago fans. However, we still have a 14-game Friday slate. While all the odds aren’t fully listed (waiting on SP from Milwaukee and Oakland), I can confirm that two matchups will have an over/under of […]
Mets Recalling Dominic Smith
According to Betsy Helfand of the Las Vegas Review Journal, the New York Mets are recalling first baseman Dominic Smith and pitcher Buddy Baumann on Friday. For those owners of Smith in dynasty leagues, don’t get too excited yet. With outfielder/first baseman Jay Bruce on paternity leave for the weekend, Smith’s return to the Majors […]

Gavin Cecchini To Get X-Ray On Foot
New York Mets infielder/prospect Gavin Cecchini was hit in the foot by a pitch on Wednesday while playing for Triple-A Las Vegas; he’s set to get an x-ray on Thursday. Cecchini needed to be helped off the field, not good. The 24-year-old has enjoyed a fantastic 2018 thus far, slashing .294/.342/.468 with two home runs, […]
Amed Rosario Picking Things Up A Bit
Despite a relatively disappointing debut in late 2017 for New York Mets shortstop Amed Rosario, who at one point was ranked as the top prospect in baseball by some publications, the fantasy community had hopes for him in 2018. Not necessarily very high hopes, but hopes nonetheless. Unfortunately Rosario has disappointed greatly thus far in […]
Devin Mesoraco Hitless In Mets Starting Debut
If catcher Devin Mesoraco can start hitting for his new team, the New York Mets, he’ll be the best catching option the club has had in quite some time. He made his starting debut on Wednesday after serving as a pinch hitter on Tuesday, and at the plate it didn’t go so well. Mesoraco finished […]
Asdrubal Cabrera Has Double Wiped By Lineup Snafu
When you look at Wednesday’s box score between the New York Mets and Cincinnati Reds, you’ll see that Mets infielder Asdrubal Cabrera finished 0-for-3. That is the official scoring, but make no mistake, Cabrera was better than what the box score says. You’ve no doubt heard by now about the lineup issue that became an […]

FanDuel MLB DFS Lineup Picks (5/9/18): Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice
Good morning, Rotoballers. Quite the night of baseball we had last night with a no-hitter from the Big Maple, a pitching gem at Coors Field and an offensive explosion from the Royals that sent Dylan Bundy to the showers in the matter of minutes. Let's hope today is just as wild. There are two slates […]
Zack Wheeler Fantastic In No-Decision
It may have come against the lowly Cincinnati Reds, but New York Mets starting pitcher Zack Wheeler rebounded in a big way on Wednesday from the destruction he endured at the hands of the Colorado Rockies last Friday. Wheeler pitched six innings and allowed only one earned run on four hits and three walks in […]
Jay Bruce Going On Paternity Leave
New York Mets outfielder Jay Bruce is heading to Texas after the game in Cincinnati on Wednesday for the birth of his second son. The expectation is that on Thursday Bruce will be officially be placed on paternity leave while the Mets do battle in Philadelphia against the Phillies over the weekend. Aside from the […]
Kevin Plawecki To Start Hitting Wednesday
New York Mets catcher Kevin Plawecki began catching baseballs again on Tuesday, a great step forward in his recovery from a broken left hand. On Wednesday, Plawecki is taking it a step further by starting a hitting progression. According to Plawecki, his grip strength has doubled over the last few days. That is fantastic news […]
Zack Wheeler Looks To Rebound In Cincinnati
Every time New York Mets starting pitcher Zack Wheeler looks like he’s taking one step forward, he seems to follow it up by taking two steps back. After a solid outing in San Diego on April 29, Wheeler followed that up with an absolute nightmare in Queens against the Colorado Rockies on Friday, allowing eight […]
Kevin Plawecki Catches For First Time Since Injury
New York Mets catcher Kevin Plawecki went down with a fractured left hand about four weeks ago, but it sounds as if he is inching closer to a return. On Tuesday, Plawecki caught baseballs for the first time since suffering the injury, a noteworthy step considering he had a broken hand. While the Mets badly […]
Hansel Robles To Get X-Ray On Knee
New York Mets reliever Hansel Robles will undergo X-rays on his right knee, according to manager Mickey Callaway. Prior to leaving Tuesday’s loss to the Cincinnati Reds due to injury, Robles was once again roughed up in relief. He allowed three hits, including a two-run home run by Scooter Gennett, and a walk prior to […]
Devin Mesoraco Making First Start As A Met On Wednesday
On Tuesday after being traded by the Cincinnati Reds to the New York Mets, all catcher Devin Mesoraco had to do was walk across the hallway to his new team with the Amazins in the midst of a three-game set in the Queen City. He served as pinch hitter in the Mets 7-2 loss but […]
Mets Call Up Luis Guillorme, Send Down Tomas Nido
The New York Mets have called up infielder Luis Guillorme and sent catcher Tomas Nido to Triple-A Las Vegas. Guillorme, who is 23 years old, gives the Mets some infield depth while third baseman Todd Frazier recovers from his hamstring injury on the disabled list. Guillorme is probably a more exciting name for Mets fans […]
Wilmer Flores Hits First Homer Since April 15
Not a whole lot went right for the New York Mets on Tuesday in a 7-2 loss to the Cincinnati Reds, but Wilmer Flores was a lone bright spot. Entering the game as a pinch hitter for starting pitcher Jason Vargas, Flores finished 2-for-3 with a home run. The long ball was only his third […]
Jason Vargas Destroyed For Third Straight Start
In 2017, New York Mets starting pitcher Jason Vargas was a tale of two pitchers. He owned an incredible 2.62 ERA in the first half but followed it up with a downright awful 6.38 mark in the second half. When the Mets signed him this offseason, they thought reuniting him with former pitching coach Dave […]

Jacob deGrom Expected To Pitch Sunday
New York Mets starting pitcher Jacob deGrom (elbow) is now fully expected to pitch on Sunday in Philadelphia against the Phillies. deGrom threw two innings in a simulated game on Tuesday and it “went really well,” according to manager Mickey Callaway, adding “everything went better than can be expected.” Dealing with a hyperextended right elbow, […]
