Mike Mayers Optioned to Triple-A Memphis
St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Mike Mayers was optioned to Triple-A Memphis on Monday. With Greg Holland set to join the bullpen, Mayers was the odd man out. He gave up one run in two innings of work and should be back up with the big league club whenever another reliever is needed.
Greg Holland Officially Activated for Monday's Game
St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Greg Holland was officially activated for Monday's game. In a corresponding move, reliever Mike Mayers was optioned to Triple-A Memphis. Holland was signed on Opening Day and needed a little time to get up to speed, making a few appearances in the Cardinals minor league system. He'll instantly be working […]
Ryan Sherriff Placed on the Disabled List With a Fractured Toe
St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Ryan Sherriff was placed on the disabled list with a fractured right big toe. He was hit by a comebacker to the mound on Thursday and X-rays showed a hairline fracture. It's unknown for now how long he'll be out, but it doesn't seem like it will be a long-term […]
John Brebbia Called Up to Join the Cardinals Bullpen
The St. Louis Cardinals recalled right-handed relief pitcher John Brebbia from Triple-A Memphis. Brebbia got the call when Ryan Sherriff was placed on the disabled list, but with closer Greg Holland set to join the team, Brebbia's stay might already be over. He was excellent last season but lost his Opening Day spot to rookie flamethrower […]

St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Brett Cecil (shoulder) is throwing weighted balls in his rehab from a dead arm. Cecil was dealing with the dead arm throughout Spring Training, and he was placed on the disabled list after a single appearance on Opening Day. Cleveland Indians closer Cody Allen picked up a win on Sunday, tossing a scoreless top of the ninth inning against the Kansas City Royals before a Yan Gomes walk-off home run in the bottom of the inning. It was Allen's first win of the season, and he's saved two games so far. He hasn't allowed […]
Digging Deeper - Week 2 Waiver Wire Targets
Hey there RotoBallers. Apologies for the delay. Between The Masters this weekend and adjusting to my new MLB schedule, this article slipped my mind. Like last season, Max and I will be splitting the AL/NL Digging Deeper series every other week, so you can expect one of us to give this article a whirl every […]

Every Monday we’ll be checking in on some names to keep an eye on and add to your watch list. Some may require quick action while others are simply options to keep in mind down the road. We're still in the very early stages of the season but every bit of additional data helps. Here's […]
Shane Greene Notches Second Save Sunday
Detroit Tigers closer Shane Greene earned his second save of the year on Sunday in a 1-0 victory over the White Sox. Greene's first outing of the year was shaky, allowing three runs (two earned) in just two-thirds of an inning in relief. But since then, he has turned in three consecutive scoreless outings and […]
Brandon Kintzler Takes Second Loss In Two Days
Washington Nationals reliever Brandon Kintzler gave up the go-ahead run to the visiting Mets in the 12th inning on Sunday. It was the second day in a row that Kintzler would a take the loss and the third game in a row that he gave up at least a run. Over three games this past […]
Alex Colome Blows Second Save In Four Days
Tampa Bay Rays closer Alex Colome blew his second straight save chance Sunday versus Boston. Having been up 7-2 after seven innings, Tampa Bay reliever Matt Andriese came in and got knocked around before leaving with two outs in the eighth inning. Colome came in trying to hold on to the fragile lead and ended […]
Brad Ziegler Picks Up First Save Of The Year
Relief pitcher Brad Ziegler notched his first save of the season after shutting down the Phillies in the ninth inning on Sunday. The veteran Ziegler allowed one base knock and struck out one during Miami's 6-3 win. The save comes as a big boost to Ziegler, who has struggled mightily during relief appearances in 2018. […]

DraftKings Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (4/8/18): MLB DFS Lineups
All teams are in action this Sunday, but DraftKings has given us a 10-game featured slate to work with instead of the full 15. This 10-game slate has excluded every game that starts after 3:00 PM EST. Not on the featured slate are the Coors Field game, Clayton Kershaw’s start against the Giants, and Shohei […]
White Sox Promote Bruce Rondon
The Chicago White Sox have called up relief pitcher Bruce Rondon. Rondon has always had powerful stuff, but has struggled with his command. He owns a career 5.00 ERA in parts of four seasons with the Tigers over 123 games. The White Sox are hoping that Don Cooper, one of the games best pitching coaches […]
Raisel Iglesias Earns Second Save
Cincinnati Reds closer Raisel Iglesias nailed down his second save of the season on Saturday, preserving a 7-4 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Iglesias pitched a scoreless ninth, allowing one hit and striking out one to earn the save. The Reds have won just two games in the early going this season with Iglesias earning […]
Blake Treinen Gets Two Inning Save
Oakland Athletics closer Blake Treinen struck out four and gave up two hits in two innings on Saturday against the Angels. He recovered well from a Friday blown save to these same Angels to get his second save on the year. Treinen will continue to provide strikeouts with his nasty pitching arsenal.
Arodys Vizcaino Tagged With Loss Saturday Night
In his worst outing of the season so far, Braves closer Arodys Vizcaino earned his first loss of 2018 on a bases-loaded walk. Vizcaino came in with the score tied in the bottom of the 10th inning and proceeded to walk three batters, while allowing one hit and striking out one. It's now four appearances […]
Jacob Barnes Has A Night To Forget
Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Jacob Barnes went 2/3 of an inning, giving up four runs (two earned), three hits, two walks and was ultimately rewarded with the loss and the blown save. Barnes didn't exactly get the help from his infield as Travis Shaw and Orlando Arcia committed crucial errors that played a part in […]
Brandon Morrow Picks Up First Save
Chicago Cubs closer Brandon Morrow finally got in a game, making his debut Saturday. Morrow allowed one hit and struck out two batters. Morrow is in his first season as a full time closer, but so far, so good.

Enny Romero Designated For Assignment
Washington Nationals reliever Enny Romero was designated for assignment by the ball club on Saturday. The team now has to put him through waivers over the next seven days or trade him within ten. The move likely means that the lefty's tenure with the Nats is over as he is unlikely to pass through waivers […]
Week 2 Waiver Wire - H2H Category Streamers
I like to consider myself a pioneer of the streaming approach. I won a league about seven years ago completely ignoring saves and just stacking up the starts each week. While streaming is undoubtedly more directly associated with pitching, there's plenty of value in streaming for offense as well. Maybe you have a stacked roster […]
Buy or Sell - Underowned and Overowned Players for Week 2
The first week of the season is officially over, so it's time to start trading assets! That actually may not be the best idea since we've yet to get a firm grasp on trends or values, although the start of the season could be the best time to acquire assets cheaply in some cases. Cutting […]
Adrian Houser Recalled From Triple-A For Brewers
Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Adrian Houser has been called up from Triple-A affiliate, Colorado Springs Sky Sox after Corey Knebel was placed on the disabled list. Houser last pitched with the Brewers in 2015, where he went two innings and gave up one hit, and two walks and since then has recovered from Tommy John […]
Josh Hader Gets Unlucky In Solid Mid-Relief Appearance
Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Josh Hader went two innings, giving up one earned run, one walk, and struck out three in the 5-4 win over the Chicago Cubs. Hader not only had to come into this game in the fourth inning due to Brandon Woodruff's 95 thrown pitches but also, the only runner he put […]
Matt Albers Goes Two Scoreless Innings For Win
Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Matt Albers went two innings, giving up a hit and a walk while striking out two in the 5-4 win over the Chicago Cubs. For anyone who picked up Albers expecting to get saves, he definitely provided some value in other ways tonight earning fantasy owners a win. It is every […]

After allowing three unearned runs on three walks and a hit to earn his second loss of the year Thursday, Padres closer Brad Hand rebounded with a scoreless inning of work to get the save Friday against the Astros.
