Yoan Moncada To Start Rehab Assignment On Tuesday
5 months agoChicago White Sox third baseman Yoan Moncada (groin) will start serving as the designated hitter in the Arizona Complex League on Tuesday, according to manager Pedro Grifol. If all goes well on his rehab assignment, Moncada could return to the White Sox by the end of July. The 29-year-old Cuban infielder has been on the shelf since early April after suffering a serious groin strain. The White Sox are going to give Moncada plenty of time to get himself up to speed in the minors before they consider activating him from the injured list in the second half of the season. But when he returns, he should take over regular duties at third base in Chicago. Fantasy managers in mixed leagues can take a wait-and-see approach on the oft-injured third baseman. Moncada has just one 20-homer season in eight big-league seasons and hadn't gone deep in 11 games in 2024 before getting hurt.
