Yoan Moncada Pulled Off Rehab Assignment
3 months agoChicago White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said that third baseman Yoan Moncada (groin) was pulled off his minor-league rehab assignment "with some anticipated soreness." "Anticipated soreness that we want to err on the side of caution. There's nothing where we feel he's taken a step back," Grifol said. While it doesn't appear to be a big setback for the 29-year-old infielder, it's a step back nevertheless for a player that hasn't been on the field in the big leagues since injuring his groin on April 9. Before being pulled off his rehab assignment, Moncada went 8-for-15 with a double in five games in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League. He will eventually return to the last-place Pale Hose in the second half, but that probably won't come until August now. Moncada was hitting .282 (11-for-39) with no homers before his injury in April and should remain on the waiver wire in mixed leagues.
