Yankees Interested In Re-Signing J.A. Happ
6 years agoThe New York Yankees have expressed interest in re-signing starting pitcher J.A. Happ, according to general manager Brian Cashman. The 36-year-old Happ was great for the Yankees after being acquired from the Blue Jays, compiling a 2.69 ERA and 4.21 FIP in 11 starts over 63 2/3 innings. “The performance level was exactly what we needed. He put himself in a good position as a free agent. I don’t know what’s going to happen when the dust settles. Only he does and his agent. But yeah, he would be on the list in having interest in retaining," Cashman said. Despite his advanced age Happ remains valuable in mixed leagues because of his high strikeout rate. Moving out of the American League East and into a more favorable pitcher's park would be best for Happ's 2019 fantasy value.
