His first 108 games yielded a .241 batting average with eight home runs (30 extra-base hits) and 12 steals with a right hamstring strain interrupting his May. Every month saw him post a soft-contact rate above 16 percent according to Fangraphs, until September 1 came around. That rate plummeted to 9.2 percent in the final month, sending his 8.4 percent barrel rate up to 13.2 percent for September. This led to eight home runs and seven doubles to fuel a .300/.386/.610 slash line over 114 plate appearances. He even went a perfect 7-for-7 on steal attempts. That is league-winning upside residing in a high-pedigree prospect who seemed to find his groove. Managers who believe there will be more Septembers to come must grind out any growing pains with an early pick thanks to an NFBC ADP around pick 43 (his RotoBaller rank is similarly in the mid-forties). ATC Projections call for 21 HRs and 19 swipes with a .260/.335/.445 slash line over 142 games, with plenty of profit margin available to those who put more stock in the strong finish.
