Wilyer Abreu 2025 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Good Bet To Generate Double Digit Homers And Steals Despite Sitting Vs. Lefties
1 day agoBoston Red Sox outfielder Wilyer Abreu slashed .253/.322/.459 with 15 home runs, 58 RBI, 59 runs, and eight stolen bases across 447 plate appearances in 2024. He struggled against left-handers and was on the bench most games a southpaw was on the mound. Abreu continues to mash right-handers as he hit 14 of his 15 homers with a .352 wOBA against them while struggling against lefties with a .180/.254/.279 slash line. He needs to put the ball in play more, but Abreu's hard-hit percentage (50.5%) was in the 94th percentile, while his average exit velocity (91.6) was in the 86th percentile. However, he owned a 28.0 K%, striking out 125 times in 2024. In a hitter-friendly ballpark and hitting in the middle-of-the-order against righties, Abreu should be able to pop 15 homers and steal 10 bases in 2025. ATC projections are on board with this assessment, projecting Abreu to hit 16 homers and steal nine bases over 469 plate appearances. Abreu is OF78 in the latest RotoBaller outfield rankings and is a serviceable option at his current NFBC ADP of 288.27.
