White Sox Not Naming A Closer
8 months agoChicago White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said he's not going to name a closer for the start of the 2024 season. "I wouldn't have one anyways unless you bring back Dennis Eckersley or somebody like that. We're attacking leverage. Somebody takes it on, somebody takes it on," Grifol said. We don't blame Grifol, as the White Sox have one of the worst bullpens in all of baseball this year. Now that right-hander Michael Kopech has been moved from a starting role to a relief role, he seems like the best bet for fantasy managers with the most upside, but it sounds like it will be a committee approach to start. Along with Kopech, Grifol's unappetizing options to close out games are Steven Wilson, John Brebbia and Jordan Leasure. Fantasy managers would probably be wise to stay away.
