Wendell Smallwood Has Helped His Chances
6 years agoPhiladelphia Eagles running back Wendell Smallwood has really helped his roster standing in training camp. He has not missed a practice but also leads the team in catches among the running backs. His 26 carries are second to Jay Ajayi. Head coach Doug Pederson also mentioned that Smallwood is a key special teams player. His chances of making the roster are good. Donnel Pumphrey had a solid start to camp but suffered a lower-body injury before the preseason opener, and he hasn't practiced since. Things aren't looking good for him. Matt Jones hasn't really done much to earn a spot and has been in and out of practice with an injury. Smallwood is on the rise, but he's still likely fourth on the depth chart behind Ajayi, Corey Clement and Darren Sproles, making him undraftable in most formats.
