3 years agoWashington Capitals goaltender Vitek Vanecek will be the team's starter for Sunday's matchup against the Kraken. He returns to action after watching Ilya Samsonov post shutouts in back-to-back games. The Capitals will hope that Samsonov's performances will inspire Vanecek, as the Czech netminder hasn't done too well this season, going 4-2-4 with a 2.39 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage. Meanwhile, Vanecek himself will be hoping for more goal support from the team. The Capitals are averaging the sixth-most goals per game (3.44), but they have let down Vanecek more than a few times this season. Seattle is allowing the most goals per game (3.88), so Vanecek should be very disappointed if the goals don't start flowing here.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
