Victor Caratini May Be Out A While
6 years agoChicago Cubs backup catcher Victor Caratini was forced to leave the game early on Thursday night when he hurt his hand in his last at-bat. The team fears that he may have fractured the hamate bone in his hand, and he'll go for additional tests on Friday. He had two doubles, an RBI and a strikeout in three plate appearances and is hitting a nice .571 with eight hits in his 17 plate appearances on the young season. Caratini could be out four to six weeks, however, if he indeed suffered a broken hamate. Taylor Davis is expected to be called up from the minors to take Caratini's spot on Friday. He'd back up Willson Contreras.
