Valeri Nichushkin Won't Play Friday
2 years agoColorado Avalanche winger Valeri Nichushkin (lower body) will sit out Friday's game against New Jersey, and he is considered day-to-day by the team. This is unfortunate news all around, as Nichushkin has started the season in great form and sits among the league's top goal-scorers with seven markers in as many games. He has also tallied five assists, proving straightaway that he is fully worthy of the eight-year, $49 million deal Colorado handed to him in July. With the Russian winger missing the matchup, Martin Kaut will move to the second line. The former first-round pick gets a great opportunity to impress, but we shouldn't expect much from him, as Kaut hasn't produced any offense this season and boasts only three points in 20 career appearances in the league.
