Ty Buttrey Expected To Be Ready For Opening Day
5 years agoLos Angeles Angels relief pitcher Ty Buttrey (oblique) played catch on Thursday and threw at around 60-70 percent intensity and "felt good, no pain, throwing." Buttrey had an MRI exam less than week ago on his oblique, but he's expected to be ready by Opening Day as the primary eighth-inning setup man for Hansel Robles. The 26-year-old (27 in March) had a 3.98 ERA and 1.27 WHIP with 84 strikeouts and two saves in 72 1/3 innings pitched last season for the Angels. Unless Robles is injured or demoted from the closer role, Buttrey won't have much fantasy appeal in mixed leagues.
