Twins Reach Extensions With Jorge Polanco, Max Kepler
6 years agoThe Minnesota Twins reached long-term contract extensions with shortstop Jorge Polanco and outfielder Max Kepler on Thursday. Polanco will receive a seven-year deal that guarantees him $25.75 million through the 2023 season. It also includes two team options for 2024 and 2025. Kepler's contract is for five seasons and $35 million with a sixth-year option worth $10 million. Polanco, 25, served an 80-game suspension last year but excelled upon his return. He's a lifetime .272 hitter and had 13 homers and 74 RBI in 2017. Kepler has been the starting right fielder for three years and has hit .233 with 56 home runs and 190 RBI in 419 games in that span. Polanco and Kepler are both more of AL-only targets.
