Twins Reach Deal With Hansel Robles Tuesday
4 years agoThe Minnesota Twins signed former Los Angeles Angels closer Hansel Robles to a one-year deal worth $2 million on Tuesday. Robles saved 23 of his 27 chances with the Halos in 2019 and went 5-1 with a 2.48 ERA in 71 relief outings. However, he had a nightmarish 10.26 ERA in 18 relief appearances in 2020, going 0-2 with just one save in three opportunities. The right-hander was no longer needed in Los Angeles after the club traded for closer Raisel Iglesias this winter. Robles will join a Minnesota team that has been led by Taylor Rogers, who has 39 saves in 47 chances in the last two seasons. He's probably best suited in more of a setup role than ninth-inning gig, which won't yield much fantasy clout, but Robles will be a serviceable backup plan if Rogers is injured or loses his job.
