Twins Have Made Contact With Alex Colome
4 years agoThe Minnesota Twins have made preliminary contact with free-agent reliever Alex Colome, who posted a 0.81 ERA and 12 saves for the Chicago White Sox in 2020. Designated hitter Nelson Cruz, who just re-signed with the Twins on Tuesday night, will try to recruit Colome to join the team. Cruz's cousin is close with Colome, and the Twins bullpen could use another addition. The 32-year-old right-hander could compete for saves or even take over ninth-inning duties from lefty Taylor Rogers if he were to join Minnesota. Colome had a career-high 47 saves for the Rays in 2017, was an All-Star in 2016 and has 42 saves in the last two seasons for Chicago. However, fantasy managers shouldn't overvalue him because of his microscopic ERA from a season ago, as his strikeout rates have been noticeably on the decline.
