Trey Sermon Has Made A Strong First Impression
4 years agoSan Francisco 49ers rookie running back Trey Sermon was drafted this year to provide depth behind veterans Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr. with an eye on a bigger role in the future. But Sermon's future might come sooner than later with Wilson out four to six months after meniscus surgery and with Mostert dealing with some lesser knee issues. Sermon has also made a strong first impression, especially as a pass-catcher, and he looks poised to make an impact in his first NFL season as long as his progress carries over into training camp next month. The Ohio State product knows head coach Kyle Shanahan's system well after studying it while in college, too. The third-rounder could start flying up draft boards this fall if he continues to impress in July. For now, Sermon will be a solid bench stash for fantasy managers.
