Trevor Rogers Could Become Fantasy Relevant In 2021
4 years agoMiami Marlins left-handed starting pitcher Trevor Rogers made his MLB debut in 2020 and had an ugly 6.11 ERA, but he touched 96 mph in his debut with an easy delivery. His slider and changeup missed plenty of bats as well, helping him to a 30 percent strikeout rate. When you combine that kind of bat-missing skills with his near-50 percent ground-ball rate, you have the makings of something potentially special. The 23-year-old is one of eight rookies to have a 10.0 K/9 with a 45 percent grounder rate dating back to 2010, and he's in great company with Stephen Strasburg, Yu Darvish, Max Fried and Ian Anderson. Rogers is unlikely to be drafted in mixed leagues as part of Miami's rotation, but he should be owned in dynasty/keeper leagues and could become a popular waiver wire target in redraft leagues if he starts out hot.
