Trenton Cannon Turning Heads In Camp
6 years agoNew York Jets rookie running back Trenton Cannon has been turning heads in training camp with his speed and was one of the stars in a scrimmage at Rutgers, running for 50 yards on 10 carries with two catches for 13 yards. He has become the leading candidate for the No. 3 job with Elijah McGuire out with a broken foot. Cannon was a sixth-round pick that could also factor in on special teams as a kick returner. He ran a 4.4-second 40-yard dash at the NFL combine. “That dude’s fast,” linebacker Darron Lee said. “He might be a buck eighty on a good day, but that dude is fast. You better make sure you get the edge on him because he’s got some wiggle to him, too. It’s more than just straight-line speed. I like his work ethic.” For now, Cannon is just a name to keep an eye on in dynasty and deeper leagues.
