Travis Demeritte Could Join Tigers This Weekend
5 years agoDetroit Tigers second baseman Travis Demeritte, who was acquired in the deal that sent closer Shane Greene to the Braves on Wednesday, could be called up to make his major league debut as early as Friday, according to general manager Al Avila. Demeritte, 24, wasn't among Atlanta's top 30 prospects per MLB Pipeline, but he had been hitting a nice .286 with 20 home runs, 74 RBI and four stolen bases in 96 games for Triple-A Gwinnett before the trade. He has some intriguing power and could see playing time down the stretch for a rebuilding Tigers team. Those in dynasty and AL-only leagues should take notice.
