Tommy Nance To Resume Throwing This Week
1 year agoMiami Marlins right-hander Tommy Nance (shoulder) started a minor-league rehab assignment with Single-A Jupiter on May 12 and threw two scoreless innings with four strikeouts on 37 pitches, but he returned after feeling shoulder soreness after the outing. Nance is scheduled to resume a throwing program later this week. Nance was initially put on the 15-day injured list on March 30 (retroactive to March 27) after not appearing in spring training, and he was moved to the 60-day IL on April 22. At best, the 32-year-old is at least a few weeks away from potentially making his 2023 debut. In his second big-league season in 2022, Nance had a 4.33 ERA (3.71 FIP), 1.51 WHIP and a 29.1% strikeout rate in 35 appearances (two starts) covering 43 2/3 innings.
