Todd Gurley Unlikely To Have Workhorse Duties In Super Bowl
6 years agoLos Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley (knee) is unlikely to have workhorse duties in the Super Bowl on Sunday against the Patriots. Due to his knee injury and conditioning questions, Gurley and C.J. Anderson are expected to split carries, as was the case in the NFC Championship against the Saints. Running backs coach Skip Peete essentially told Gurley this two weeks ago. "If you look at a guy who hasn't really practiced in two or three weeks, then all of the sudden has to go out there and play (in the playoffs), the cardio isn't where it needs to be to play 60 or 70 plays," Peete said. Gurley finished with just four carries for 10 yards and a touchdown against the Saints after running 16 times for 115 yards and a score against Dallas in the Divisional round. Gurley should be able to carry the ball more than four times, but he shouldn't be expected to have closer to 20 carries in this game, making him too risky of a DFS choice for the price.
